On one hand, cyber vigilantism can be seen as a necessary response to the inadequacy of law enforcement in the face of cybercrime. With cyber criminals often operating across multiple jurisdictions, the legal system can struggle to bring them to justice. In such cases, individuals may feel justified in taking action themselves.

One example of cyber vigilantism is the group Anonymous, who have carried out a number of high-profile digital attacks against organizations they deem to be operating outside the law. In some cases, Anonymous has drawn attention to important issues, such as government corruption or corporate malpractice. However, their methods have been criticized for being indiscriminate and potentially harmful to innocent parties.

On the other hand, cyber vigilantism can be incredibly dangerous, leading to innocent individuals being targeted and harmed. None of the individuals accused were actually involved in the bombings.
